Etienne Parrocel was a fourth-generation member of a family of artists that began working in France in the 16th century.  A student of his uncle Pierre, with whom he went to Rome in 1717, he took up residence in the Eternal City and became a member of the Academy of Saint-Luc.  Parrocel received commissions for interior church décor in Rome, including the church of Saint-Marie and the Church of Saint-Louis of France.  His work is in the collections of major museums throughout Western Europe and the United States.
